Sometimes, the culture becomes as important as the movies. A good example of this is the Mars Attacks cards. They became sought after treasures and inspirations for young artists.
Outside of the movies, comic books have been the biggest pop culture purveyor of horror. As long as there have been comics, there have been horror comics. From the classic EC and Warren books through the Marvel and DC comics of the 70s and 80s to the new era of Archie horror comics, these hand held, sequential pieces of art have been central to the continuation of horror culture.
And of course, there have been toys, video games, and
music all inspired by horror, the best examples being in the world of rock with groups like The Misfits. The latest outlet for fans to express their love for the genre is cosplay, where fans can connect to their favorite characters and movies with costumes that often rival or surpass their Hollywood counterparts.
